Here’s a Meijer news update for you: Meijer is no longer going to double coupons at ANY of their stores beginning August 25th!
If you are fortunate enough to live in an area that still doubles coupons, you only have 3 weeks left before they do away with coupon doubling completely 🙁 .
Here is the official word on their Facebook page:
It’s true that we no longer double coupons, effective August 25. We are shifting our resources to mPerks digital coupons. Less than five percent of Meijer customer used double coupons, but nearly 1.5 million have signed up for mPerks, with as many as 25,000 joining each week. We are also expanding mPerks to include rewards for our pharmacy. Signing up is easy at: http://bit.ly/TPxSx0. Of course, in addition to mPerks, we will still accept coupons at face value, and still offer our everyday low prices and weekly specials.
I’m not really surprised by this news, but it is sad nonetheless. However, coupon rules change. Unfortunately, it’s just the way it is and the way it has always been.
Stores seem to be trending more towards digital coupons, and Meijer is no exception, so we just have to keep up with the times to continue to get the best savings.
The one thing I am still loving about Meijer is that many stores DO accept competitor store coupons, and that has proven to provide GREAT savings for me.
If you have not tried using other store coupons at Meijer, I strongly encourage you to ask your cashier or customer service representative if your store allows this. If your store allows this, you can use other store coupons such as Target store coupons and Walgreens store coupons along with your manufacturer coupons to maximize your savings.
If you still live in an area that doubles coupons, let us know – will this affect where you shop?
